Physician / Faculty Mentor Mixer May 16, 2009
Event Description :
With the growing number of complex needs that underserved communities face with regard to health care and access to care, LMSA recognized the importance of informing enrolled UCLA medical students about how to incorporate research, clinical work, and community service into their future medical careers. Physicians and faculty members who dedicate their time to working in community settings are invited to share their experiences with students over an informal lunch or dinner. The goal of the Mixer is to familiarize students early on in their careers with the challenges that they may face while working in the community and the approaches that practicing physicians from diverse fields are currently taking to solve these issues. This is a one-day networking event that takes place once in the Fall and once in the Spring. However, the networks between physicians and students that this event facilitates can last throughout the students’ four years of academic training.
