Workshops are offered monthly for small group discussion, self assessment and career exploration. Each workshop is given multiple times during the academic year. Workshops for fall semester include:
- CV Workshop for MS 1. What's the difference between a CV and a resume? What should first year medical students have on their CV? What if you don't have any activities or experiences to list from medical school? Come attend one of the CV workshops that will be led by Mitsue and Sarika. Bring a copy of your current CV and any questions you might have! This session is designed for MS1 students but all students are welcome to attend. Click here for PowerPoint. - CV Worskhop for MS 2. When was the last time you updated your CV? Not sure how to incorporate your STTP or other research activities to your CV? What about the Josiah Brown Poster Fair? Come attend one of the CV workshops that will be led by Mitsue and Sarika. Bring a copy of your current CV and any questions you might have! - Web Scavenger Hunt. Come get familiar with the medstudent website as w/e teach you how to navigate your way through medical school, online! Bring your laptop, because we'll be logging in to all o/f the medical student resources in this very hands-on session. [Offered on 8/26, 8/29, and 9/2]
- Understanding the CiM Timeline - Introduction to CiM Learn to navigate CiM, get an overview of the CiM timeline, and complete the Specialty Indecision Scale Assessment. Click here for PowerPoint. [Offered on 9/9 and 9/12]
- Identifying a Mentor - What is a mentor and how do I find one? Learn what qualities make a good mentor, what to expect from one and how to go about identifying one. Click _here_ for a PowerPoint. [Offered 9/23]
- Shadowing. We'll go over proper shadowing ettiquette. Learn what to do and what not to do, where to look and who to look for in order to identify shadowing opportunities.
