The David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA recognizes the value and importance of offering professional development and career advising early on to ensure our future physicians are well suited for their chosen specialty.

We are committed to assisting medical students in professional development and in providing each student with resources and knowledge necessary to make well-informed career choices. In addition to individual counseling, a virtual advisor website and referrals for career planning, our professional development services are supplemented with the AAMC’s Careers in Medicine program. This four-phase process guides students through the stages of career planning including self-understanding, exploring a variety of medical careers, and finally choosing a specialty to meet one’s career objectives.
