Berkshire District Medical Society

Medical School Scholarship Loan

Established in 1961, this scholarship loan of up to $1,000 is available to medical students who are bona fide residents of Berkshire County, Massachusetts. Recipients must already be accepted at an approved medical school in the United States or Canada. Funds will be paid directly to the school.

Loan is unsecured and bears no interest. Repayment begins at graduation and the first 1/2 of the loan is repaid in four years, the second 1/2 in the next two. Student must take out a term insurance policy equal to the amount of the loan.

Applications are due April 1.

Medical Student Loan Fund

Interest free loans of up to $2,000 per year are available to medical students who are residents of Broome County, New York.

Applications and information must be requested in writing between January 1 and April 1. For application and information write to the following address or email.

Delaware Academy of Medicine, Inc.

Delaware Academy of Medicine Loan

The Delaware Academy of Medicine sponsors a financial aid program. We offer loans to students who are studying medicine or dentistry. In general the loans do not exceed $5000 annually.

You must be a Delaware resident to qualify for the program. All loans are determined by the Student Financial Aid Committee of the Academy and are based on financial need.

Emanuel Sternberger Educational Fund Loans

Non-interest loans of $2,000, with a cap of $6,000, are available to students who are legal residents of the Triad area of North Carolina. Student must be a college junior or graduate student. Personal interviews may be required.

Feild Co-Operative Association, Inc.

Feild Co-Operative Association Loan

Mississippi residents, who have at least two years of college, are eligible for these loans. Students must show evidence of need, and promise of social and financial responsibility. The interest rate is 6%, and payment on the interest is made each year by December 1. Repayment of the principal begins three months after graduation, or withdrawal from college for any reason, military or otherwise.

Hattie M. Strong Foundation

College Loan Program

American students studying in the U.S. or abroad, and entering their FINAL year of baccalaureate OR graduate degree program, are eligible for loans of up to $5,000 per year. These loans are interest-free. The terms of repayment are based upon monthly income after graduation and are arranged with each individual so as to work a minimum hardship. Foreign students temporarily in this country do not qualify for loans.

Between January 1 and March 31, prospective applicants should send a brief personal history, including the educational institution you are attending, subject of study, expected graduation date, and amount of funds needed. Also, enclose a stamped, self-addressed envelope.

If the student qualifies for a loan, a formal application will be sent by the Foundation between January 1 and March 31 for consideration for the scholastic year beginning the following September..

Missouri State Medical Foundation

Missouri State Medical Foundation Medical Student Loan Fund

The maximum loan granted per year from this foundation is $12,500. Financial need, academic achievement, and the student's background are all criteria by which applicants are judged. Interest accrues at 7.3% during medical school and after medical school. Loan recipients pay interest charges during residency and principal balance must be repaid within ten years of completing residency. Interested students must be Missouri residents and have successfully completed their first two years of medical school.

National Association of Residents and Interns

Student Loan Program

The Association is now offering a Cash Access line of credit to students enrolled in U.S. Medical Schools. Credit lines of up to $15,000 are available depending on year of study completed. The program offers a competitive variable APR with a low introductory rate, a principle deferment option for the first 48 months. Membership is only $35.00 a year, but you do not need to be a member to apply for the loan.

This program is available to interns, residents, fellows and in-practice physicians as well. Available credit lines grow in relation to years of training with a maximum of $35,000 for fellows and $60,000 for physicians established in practice.

Organization of American States

Leo S. Rowe Pan American Fund Student Loan

The Leo S. Rowe Pan American Fund was established in 1948, in compliance with the will of its founder, Leo Stanton Rowe, ex-Director General of the Pan American Union from 1920 until his death in 1946. This fund offers non-interest loans to students who are citizens of Latin America and Caribbean member countries of the Organization of American States. Eligible students may borrow up to $7,500 per loan and $15,000 in total during the course of study for which the loan is granted. Repayment begins three months after the completion of studies, and fully reimbursing the loan(s) within a period of fifty three months from the date of termination of the studies for which the loan was requested. Applicants must be committed to returning to their countries after completing their study programs.

Educational Loan Fund (ELF)

Educational Loan Fund (ELF), established in 1907, makes loans available to qualified women who desire higher education and are in need of financial assistance. Students must be recommended by a local chapter of the P.E.O. Sisterhood and within two years of completing her course of study. The current maximum loan is $9,000 at 4% interest and due six years from the date of issue. Interest is billed annually with principal payments to begin after graduation from the program for which the loan was granted.

J. Hugh and Earle W. Fellows Memorial Fund

These scholarship loans are made possible through a foundation created by J. Hugh and Earle W. Fellows, two "generous citizens who sought to promote service to mankind with their means."

Loans are available to qualified students in medicine, theology (Episcopal), nursing, medical technology, anesthesiology, and other allied health programs. To be eligible, applicants must (1) be a bona fide resident of Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa, or Walton County, Florida; (2) be of good moral character and qualified scholastically and intellectually for the education desired; and (3) have been accepted by, or be successfully pursuing training at, an accredited school in the appropriate field of study.

Loans are interest-free until graduation. Interest begins to accrue on the first day of the fourth month following graduation. Payments begin the first day of the fifth month after graduation. Interest rates are established as follows: 2% for the first nine months; 3% for the first full year; 4% for the next year; 5% for the following year; 8% for the next five years, during which time principal and interest will be paid; and thereafter a fixed rate of prime plus 2% at the end of the tenth year after graduation until fully paid.

Student Loan Program

Undergraduate and graduate students attending a college/university may receive a loan with no interest accruing while the student is enrolled full-time in a degree program.

Loans of $1,000 to $15,000 per year are available to students who are members of the Presbyterian Church (USA). All applying students must be enrolled full time and meet the following criteria to be eligible: demonstrate financial need; give satisfactory evidence of financial responsibility; be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident of the U.S.; be working toward a degree in a college or university that is fully accredited by its regional accrediting association; and be in good academic standing.

The Foundation of the Pennsylvania Medical Society

The Foundation of the Pennsylvania Medical Society

The Foundation of the Pennsylvania Medical Society provides afordable loans of up to $7,000 (minimum loan of $3,000) per academic year to bona fide Pennsylvania residents. Additionally, students must be enrolled full-time in an accredited U.S. medical school, have completed a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form, and are in good standing with other creditors. Loan awards are based upon financial need.

Interest accrues during school at a rate not to exceed 6 percent; the accrued interest does not compound into principal until repayment. Upon graduation from medical school, repayment can be annually deferred up to five years for additional medical training. Repayment of loan begins upon completion of the approved deferment period. The repayment period is up to 10 years and the interest rate is the 91-day T-bill rate plus 2.5 percent as of the preceding June 1.

An application form is available upon request from The Foundation.

For students attending Non-Pennsylvania medical schools submit the completed application to the Foundation between March 1 and June 1 of the current year.

The Scholarship Foundation of Santa Barbara

Schwalenberg Medical School Loan

Loans are awarded to students for up to fourteen quarters of medical school. Loans are interest-free and repayment begins eighteen months after the student receives an M.D. or otherwise leaves school. For students who enter family practice or internal medicine, when 50 percent of the medical school loan has been repaid in a timely manner, the loan is considered paid in full.

Students who have attended at least four of the six secondary school years at a Santa Barbara County school, and graduated (or have a GED) from a high school in Santa Barbara County, California, have a good academic standing, and financial need are eligible for this loan.

Interest Free Loan Program

Scholarship Foundation interest-free loans are awarded on a non-discriminatory basis to applicants of all ages who demonstrate financial need, satisfactory academic progress, and good character as evidenced by a pattern of responsibility. Loans are provided to residents of: St. Louis; St. Louis county; the Missouri counties of Franklin, Jefferson, Lincoln, St. Charles or Warren; and the Illinois counties of Clinton, Jersey, Madison, Monroe, and St. Clair.

Foundation loans are provided to students pursuing undergraduate, graduate, professional, and vocational/technical degrees and are available up to an annual maximum of $5000.

Applications are accepted by deadlines of April 15 and November 15 and are renewable annually.
