Editing your CV
- Put it away for at least an hour and preferably a day, and then look at it.
- Put your CV in front of you and ask yourself if it looks good in a general sense.
- Are all the margins even?
- Did you use parallel construction?
- Are the dates lined up?
- Use a ruler and proofread your CV line by line.
- Print your CV on a laser printer.
- Use only high quality, bond paper - white, ivory, and light gray colors are most appropriate.
- Read your CV out loud and ask yourself if it sounds right.
- Show your CV to a trusted friend or mentor and ask them for their opinion.
- Show your CV to a Student Affairs Counselor
