UCLA & UCR Seniors: Your caps and gowns will be distributed May 24TH – 28TH at the Health Science Book Store (310/825-7721). Store hours are M-F 7:45 am – 6:00 pm; Sat. 10:00 am – 5:00pm; Sun. 12:00pm – 5:00pm. If you are unable to pick the items up yourself find a friend/family member who can. DREW Seniors: Your cap and gown orders will be sent to the Drew Student Affairs Office for you to pick up from May 24th – 28th. Lot 2 is centrally located to the Senior Sendoff and to the Hippocratic Oath ceremony. It is a 10 minute walk from Lot 2 to CHS. Guests may drop off family members at the turn-around on Tiverton. Dress in comfortable and cool clothing. Even though the ceremony will be in the early evening, Dickson Court is not shaded and you will be wearing a heavy black gown.
Where & What Time to Report for HOC 3:00 PM – Students to report to Dodd Hall, Room 147 on the UCLA campus (North across the street from Murphy Hall, next to the Law School). What to Do with Personal Belongings During the Ceremony ALL personal belongings (Sport coats, jackets, shawls, sweaters, hats, scarves, purses, sunglasses, cameras, cell phones and AND pagers) are to be left in Dodd Hall, Room 147. A security guard will be staffing this room for the duration of the ceremony and reception. What to Expect During the Hippocratic Oath Ceremony (HOC) The ceremony begins promptly at 5:00 p.m with the formal Processional; the Processional is the march into Dickson Court North by the Candidates, Faculty, and Faculty Marshals. The ceremony is comprised of student speakers, presentations of special awards, presentation of hoods and conferral of degrees, administration of the Hippocratic oath, and administration of the Benediction. Each student will be hooded and receive a scroll of the Hippocratic Oath from Dr. A. Eugene Washington, Vice Chancellor, Health Sciences and Dean, David Geffen School of Medicne at UCLA. The end of the ceremony is designated by the Recessional (the Recessional follows the Processional but in reverse order). The ceremony is about one hour and forty minutes in length; it should end at approximately 6:40 p.m.
The keynote address will be given by Gerald Levey, M.D., Dean Emeritus. Professional Photography Service Bob Knight Photomarketing Inc. will take a photograph of each graduate as he/she is hooded and shakes hands with the Dr. A. Eugene Washington, Vice Chancellor, Health Sciences and Dean, David Geffen School of Medicne at UCLA. A free color proof of the photo will be mailed to each graduate.
A special reception for you, your families and faculty will be held in Dickson Court South, which is directly across from Schoenberg Hall, immediately after the ceremony. What Time Should Dinner Reservations be Made? We suggest dinner reservations begin between 7:30 p.m. - 7:45 p.m. This allows for time at the reception, picture taking and the M.D. graduate returning his/her cap, gown and hood and picking up the diploma.
UCLA & UCR MD Graduates: Please return your rental gowns and hoods to the representatives from Graduation Etc., they will be located on Schoenberg Steps, near the reception area, and back in Dodd Hall Room 147. DREW MD Graduates: Please return your UCLA hood only (keep your cap and gown), at Schoenberg steps, following the ceremony as the Drew hood will be given to you during the Drew MD graduation on Saturday June 5th at the Drew campus.
UCLA & UCR MD Graduates: You will pick up your diploma following the ceremony at Dodd Hall, Room 147 (the room your reported to and left your belongings). DREW/UCLA MD Graduates: You will receive your diploma after the graduation ceremony on Saturday, June 5th. Information not available at this time; please check back later.
