How Do I Get My $ ?

  1. Complete your 2008-09 Financial Aid Application. if you have not already applied, click here to request the application be emailed to you.
  2. Sign your Financial Aid Notification letter and return it to the office (CHS 12-109).
  3. Complete your Federal Stafford and University Loan promissory notes.
  4. First time financial aid applicants, click here to complete the Entrance/Debt Management Session.
  5. Financial aid disburses into BAR to pay fees each semester.

Where Do I Get My $ ?

After your financial aid disburses into BAR and pays fees, the left over aid is your refund. If your aid does not cover your fees, you will not have a refund. You can receive your refund via:

  1. Bruin Direct (refund is transferred into your personal bank account.)
  2. Check mailed to your current address (until Bruin Direct is set up.)

How Do I Get More $?

  1. Request additional Unsub Stafford Loan to cover your student and/or parent contributions.
  2. Request an allowable increase (add-on) to the financial aid budget to be covered by loan. Allowable add-ons to the student budget are:
    • Medical/dental/optical expenses not covered by insurance
    • Childcare expense only when the other parent works full time
  3. Petition to re-evaluate your family contribution and your need for aid.

Exit Interviews 2008

Financial aid recipients who graduate in June 2008 must complete an Exit Interview as mandated by the Federal Government. If you are graduating and have not yet completed your Exit, email the FAO to request an appointment at fao@mednet.ucla.edu.
