The 12th Annual UCLA Healthcare Symposium invites you to explore the current state of healthcare reform. As we approach the 2008 election season, these issues will become increasingly prominent. Separating truly viable solutions from the mix of proposals is difficult, even for experts in the field. And yet our future healthcare system will dramatically affect the way medical care, physicians and patients intersect.

Despite the many proposals, any viable system will involve the combined efforts of government entities and private corporations. On February 2, 2008, the UCLA Healthcare Symposium invites Dr. John E. McDonough and Dr. Mark A. Peterson to illustrate how such partnerships will contribute to the California health system. McDonough was a pivotal architect of the groundbreaking Massachusetts Healthcare Plan, and Dr. Peterson serves as a Professor of Public Policy and Political Science in the UCLA School of Public Affairs.

Susan Fleischman, MD (National Vice President for Kaiser Health Plan), C. Duane Dauner (President and CEO of the California Hospital Association), Loretta Jones (Founder and Executive Director of Healthy African American Families II), and Thomas M. Priselac (President and CEO, Cedars-Sinai Health System) will then join McDonough and Peterson to comprise a Keynote Responder Panel. The panel discussion will be moderated by Robert Brook, Vice-President and Director of RAND Health.

Please join us on February 2, 2008, at Covel Commons in the UCLA Sunset Village. Early registration is recommended.
