The David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, upon receipt of the file from the American Medical College Application Service, will be conducting a preliminary review of all applications.

A preliminary review of the credentials is based on your AMCAS application. Any additional information, such as transcripts, supplemental and letters of recommendation will be requested as needed. All applicants will be notified, by mail, when the Admissions Committee has reviewed and taken action on each individual.

On the basis of a thorough and comparative evaluation of the academic record, Medical College Admissions Test, supplemental information and letters of recommendation, the candidate may be granted an invitation for an interview. Students are expected to come to UCLA for the interview and are responsible for their own travel arrangements and expenses.

For the 2014 entering freshman class, the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA interviewed 600 applicants to fill a class of 133 students. Interviews are conducted from October through February of the entering year.

The interview is an important and integral part of the selection process. It gives the Admissions Committee an opportunity to learn more about the candidate and their ability to be part of the entering class. David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA utilizes the Multiple Mini-Interview process initiated by the Mc Master University.  Interviews are conducted by members of the Admissions Committee and if possible by student members. The interview is but one critical part of the evaluation. Decisions on admission are made by the Admissions Committee after a full review of all information submitted on each applicant.
