Do you feel in control of your money? Brenda Weiner from Consumer Credit Couseling and a video presentation based on the Today's Show series with Jeanne Chatsky. Money for Women, will help students learn unique strategies for personal finance that are empowering today's women.

This session begins with a quiz that explores one's degree of dependancy on others in regard to financial matters followed by some eye-opening statistics which address why women need to be on top of their finances even earlier than men. Additionally, some common red flags of money troubles will be examined, as well as, solutions to those symptoms. The session will also cover credit use, divorce, credit reports and record keeping. Tips will be provided in shopping for an investment advisor and the role of assertiveness in financial matters will be discussed.

Learning Objectives

  1. To understand how and when to start savings, investment, (including stocks) and retirement accounts; and how to develop short-term and long-term investment plans.
  2. To learn how to better control your financial destinies.
  3. To recognize the common red flags of money troubles and identify solutions to those symptoms.
  4. To understand how to shop for an investment advisor.
  5. To learn the unique strategies for personal finance that are empowering today's women.
  6. To understand why women need to be on top of their finances more than men.
