Financial Aid Notification (FAN)

The Financial Aid Notification (FAN) is the official notice of your financial aid award. Students receive the FAN in the mail. You should:

  1. Read the information on your FAN carefully. Circle "A" to ACCEPT or "D" to DECLINE each award.
  2. Sign and return the FAN to the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA's Financial Aid Office (CH-109) within ten (10) days of the date indicated on the FAN.
  3. Make a copy of your FAN for your records.

When you read your Fall FAN you may notice:

  • The Fall award is larger than the Spring award
  • The aid offered does not equal the total amount of need

Your Spring FAN will have the complete Spring award and the total financial aid awarded will equal the total need.

Note: if you applied for bank loans only, the amount awarded on the FAN is the amount you requested on your loan application and may not equal your need or budget.
