Medical students are required to provide feedback through the School of Medicine centralized online evaluation program (http://evaluation.medsch.ucla.edu/).  The data collected is used in the aggregate to evaluate courses, curricula, and faculty and the data is reported back to Clerkship and Department Chairs for use in improving teaching and rotations. Constructive criticisms as well as recognition will be appreciated. 

Students are asked to provide feedback on the elective clerkship and faculty at the end of each rotation. This data is used for:

• Quality improvement of clerkship rotations by Clerkship Chairs.
• Updating of dossiers for promotion/retention by Department Chairs and Personnel Coordinators.
• Feedback on teaching performance for the individual faculty.
• General assessment of the curriculum by the MEC in preparation for re-accreditation.

The MEC Evaluation Office administers the online evaluation system, which is now used by students for all 4 years of the Medical School curriculum.   The evaluation data is released to the College Chairs and staff for distribution to the individual Clerkship Chairs and Faculty.

Student Coordinator Responsibilities with regard to Evaluations:

• Provide the Evaluation Committee office with changes to the faculty rosters for each site.
• Changes to the rosters need to be sent to Gary Diener (gdiener@mednet.ucla.edu) at least one week prior to the end of the rotation to allow for evaluations to be programmed by the last day of the rotation.
• Student Coordinators are also responsible for instructing students to use their PDA to evaluate lecturers and tutors with less than 3 hours teaching contact. It is no longer necessary to send rosters for these lecturers & tutors to the evaluation office.
