Student Transportation Policy

In order to attend our wealth of education at affiliate hospitals, community clinics and practices that encompass the learning environment at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, we require that every student have a reliable means of transportation.  Although carpooling and public transportation are encouraged where available, there will be instances during your four years in medical school when a car is necessary.  Therefore, we define a reliable means of transportation as owning an automobile that is fully functional.

Absences due to a lack of reliable means of transportation will not be excused, nor will learning sites be assigned according to lack of transportation.

All students will maintain a valid Driver’s License and insurance in accordance with California state law.  Any student not meeting the above requirement for transportation will be subject to administrative action at the discretion of the Senior Associate Dean of Student Affairs.
