ELECTIVE INFORMATION FOR INTERNATIONAL MEDICAL STUDENTS

In recent years, UCLA has offered a full range of advanced clinical elective courses to medical students on a world-wide basis. We have enjoyed the opportunity to be able to provide elective training to virtually thousands of students. However, this is a time of overwhelming demand for clinical training and of increasing financial constraint necessitating curtailment in the number of students accepted to participate in our visiting student program. We will continue to consider applications from students attending foreign medical schools where reciprocity in on-site clinical elective training for our own students would be offered and considered for credit by our school.

If you attend a school which does not provide on-site clinical training, in English, or if the clinical training opportunities at your school would not be credited for UCLA students by UCLA, please be advised that we are not in a position to accommodate your request.

If you are interested in doing an elective at UCLA please complete this form. You must be a final-year medical student attending a school with whom we have a reciprocal relationship.  If qualified, you will receive relevant application materials and information via airmail at the home address you provide.

Currently eligible students may apply for up to a maxiumum of 9 weeks total, with an application fee of $450 for each 3-week elective (maximum of 3 electives).  Thank you for your interest in our program.

Information will be available soon for the July 2013 - May 2014 academic year.

We do not begin giving spots out to non-UCLA students for our next academic year until early June, and availability of electives is also not known until this time.
