| Description: | The Los
Angeles Free Clinic opened in 1967 to offer free medical services to the growing youth
population in Hollywood. They now offer not only complete medical care, but also
legal, dental, mental health and social services. The Beverly Clinic is more
involved with regular adult health care, and the Hollywood Clinic is focused more on
high-risk youth.
|
| Volunteer Opportunities: | Volunteers
will be trained to be intake interviewers. Resposibilities include triaging the
patient, taking vital signs, chief complaints, ordering appropriate lab tests, and
recognizing and offering additional medical services (e.g. TB test, OCP, etc.).
|
| Sign-Up Info: | This clinic has not needed many volunteers in the last several months. Both clinics are full-time, and volunteers can work mornings, afternoons, evenings, or Saturdays. There is a required commitment of at least one shift every other week. If you are interested, please contact Connie Carasco directly(see below). |
